Founded by Civil Aviation Minister of the USSR as Tyumen Department of Civil Aviation. Major aviation company based in Tyumen region of Siberia. In January 1991 company was restructured and airlined service commenced.At this time new name Tuymenaviatrans was adopted. In July 1992 airline went public. In October 2002 new name UTAir was adopted. Company offers aviation services ranging from charter, air taxi, air cargo, survey, oil and gas industry support, airport handling, airport management and scheduled airline service. Company is one of the world's largest helicopter operator. Airline operates dense domestic network within Tyumen region as well scheduled flights from Moscow Vnukovo and Domodedovo airports to points in Russia and former CIS. In 2006 UTAir started service to Munich, Germany from Tyumen. In 2008 airline transported cca 2 million passangers. Company employs over 8,000 people in its airline division and another 2,000 in its helicopter division. In 2009 airline transported over 3.2 million passengers. In 2011 UTAir transported 5.8 million passengers becoming Russia's third largest airline.
