note
Ameriflight began operations as California Air Charter, flying high priority freight, such as bank documents, using single engine Pipers. In 1971 it merged with United Couriers, a division of ATI Systems. In 1993 it acquired the fixed-wing business of Wings Express. In 1997 it purchased Oregon-based Sports Air Travel. In 2007 ATI Systems was sold to Garda World Security; Ameriflight was sold to a management and investor group led by then president, Gary Richards. On December 31, 2013 it was acquired by Pebbles Aviation LLC. By summer 2014 it had moved its headquarters to DFW Airport. In December it purchased Wiggins Airways which it continues to operate separately. Most of Ameriflight's services are feeder flights for DHL and UPS throughout the 48 states and the Caribbean.
