Scheduled passenger low-fare full-service airline commenced operations on July 1, 1992 between Reno and Seattle using MD-80 aircraft. Airline's network grew steadily and by 1996 it served all key destinations on the west coast as well as Anchorage, Fairbanks, Chicago, Vancouver, Denver, Albuquerque and Tucson from Reno and San Jose. Airline was publicly traded and also operated seasonal charters to Mexico and the Caribbean. In 1998 Reno Air also established a hub at Las Vegas and a separate hub in Gulfport Mississippi from which it operated flights to Georgia and Florida. In 1999 the airline was acquired by American Airlines and flew its last flight on August 30. Reno Air Express flights were operated by Phoenix Leasing.
