ASI Aviation Services Inc.

note

Began scheduled flying as ASI (Aviation Services Inc.) in April 1967 using a Cessna 206 linking Salina, Wichita, and Springfield (MO). Moved into Cessna 402s, then Beech 99s, then Metro IIs. Became CAB certificated in November 1976. Acquired Scheduled Skyways on October 10, 1984. Operated as Eastern Express and Braniff Express at Kansas City, as Ozark Air Midwest and TW Express at St Louis (1988) , and American Eagle at Nashville (2/86). AMR acquired the Nashville operation on January 1, 1988 to launch Nashville Eagle. The TW Express operation was sold to Trans States in January 1991. It became a USAir Express carrier at Kansas City. It was acquired by Mesa Air Group in July 1991. The airline eventually took over operation of all of Mesa's Beech 1900s, which operated for US Airways Express, America West Express, as well as Mesa Airlines branded operations in New Mexico, Texas, Arkansas, and Missouri. With ever increasing costs and fuel prices, the operation became unprofitable and was shut down in 2008.
