note
Formed by former Brockway Air personnel to provide USAir Express feeder service in the northeastern US. The company began operated as a Continental Connection carrier in December 2000 after a contract disagreement with US Airways. Originally flying several non-hub routes in the Northeast, it eventually moved its operation to Continental's Cleveland hub. Corporate headquarters moved from Plattsburgh to Cleveland. After Continental merged with United, some flights were added at Newark and Dulles. After the Cleveland hub closed, all flights moved to Dulles and Newark, and the airline's maintenance moved back to Albany. In 2020 the company undertook a large expansion orchestrated by United, taking over aircraft that were operated by Trans States Airlines and ExpressJet. The company expanded to the west with flights from United hubs at Denver and Houston. A corporate reorganization changed the name to CommuteAir in July 2022.
