note

Texas Internationa can trace its roots to company called Aviation Enterprises founded at the end of World War II in Houston Texas. Airline commenced scheduled operations within the state of Texas in 1947 and changed its name to Trans Texas Airways accordingly. Trans Texas Airways became Texas International in April 1969. Throughout most of its history, TI operated scheduled passenger service across Texas. In late 1950s neighboring Arkansas and Louisiana were also served and in 1970 flights to Los Angeles and Mexico were introduced. Following deregulation of aviation industry in 1978, TI was free to expand to other states and at its height operated network stretching from San Diego to Florida. Texas International was merged into Continental Airlines in 1982 by Frank Lorenzo CEO of Texas Air (holding company of TTA and New York Air) who purchased Continental Airlines.
