Metro Express was formed by the CEO of Metro Airlines to provide code-shared feeder service for Eastern Airlines at Atlanta. Flights began on April 2, 1984 as Eastern Metro Express with Jetstream 31s. The company was soon sold to Metro Airlines Inc. On February 15, 1989 it acquired Atlantis Airlines, which also was operating as Eastern Express. The airline ceased operations on January 18, 1991 when Eastern closed.
