Executive was formed by former Prinair employees as Executive Air Charter. It began scheduled operations in 1985 between points in Puerto Rico and to the Virgin Islands using a Cessna 402 and two Herons. A large fleet of CASA 212s soon followed. On November 1, 1986, it became an American Eagle carrier. With the addition of ATR42s, the airline quickly expanded throught the Caribbean region. In 1990 the airline was sold to AMR Corp. It most recently operated all ATR aircraft for American Eagle at both the Miami and San Juan hubs. When American elected to end San Juan hub operations, Executive was shut down.
