note
Sunaire began operations on August 5, 1982 linking St. Thomas with St. Croix. It used a Twin Otter for the route, and had a Piper Seneca and BN Islander for charter and back-up. Throughout the 1980s its Caribbean route system expanded, as did its Twin Otter fleet. In 1985 the airline was purchased by Metro Airlines, and on November 15, began code-sharing as Eastern Metro Express. When Eastern went out of business, Sunaire Express continued to operate as an independent airline. In 1991 it was sold to Aeroflight Holdings which was owned by two Metro Airlines principals. After a failed sale attempt, the airline filed for bankruptcy in December 1993. After another failed sale, the airline ceased operations on July 15, 1994.
