note

Valley Airlines began scheduled services November 2, 1981 on a route connecting Ft. Kent (Maine), Presque Isle, and Bangor. The airline maintained modest growth within the state of Maine using a small fleet of Cessna 310s and 402s. In 1986 the airline was purchased by the owners of Bar Harbor Airlines, and expansion was made into New Hampshire, Boston, and nearby Canada. In 1989 Beech 99s were added, and the arline changed its name to Northeast Express on September 18. By the end of the year it had purchased Precision Airlines which it continued to operate separately. Northeast Express began operating as a Northwest Airlink carrier on February 5, 1990. The airline continued rapid expansion with Metro IIIs and Dash 8s. It filed for bankruptcy on May 28, 1994 and ceased operations on June 20.
