note
Cape Air was founded by Daniel A. Wolf and began operations between Boston and Provincetown in 1989. D. Wolf is still active as pilot for the airline on the weekends and also holds Airframe and Power Plant Maintenance degree.
Cape Air expanded service in New England, specializing in flights to the Cape and Islands. It added the Florida market in 1998, operating many flights as Continental Connection, however this service ended in 2013. It also added service in the Caribbean, operating from San Juan to other points in Puerto Rico, St. Thomas, and the British Virgin Islands. It experimented with flights to the Outer Banks of North Carolina, as well as some routes within Indiana. In 2004, it added service between Guam, Rota, and Saipan in 2004 as Continental Connection.
Besides the Cape and Islands, its mainland US routes include flights to 3 airports in Maine from Boston, Lebanon NH to Boston and New York, 2 Adirondack-area cities to Albany and Boston, as well as Saranac Lake to Boston. In the midwest it operates from St. Louis to six points in southern Missouri, Illinois, and Kentucky. From Billings it flies to 5 points in Montana. Finally, in 2016, it briefly operated amphibious service from Ft. Lauderdale and Miami Seaplane Base to Bimini, operating in conjunction with Resorts World.
