Scheduled passenger airline. In 1997 company has ordered Boeing 767-300s and 737-300/700 from the manufacturer. Its 767-300 were powered with Rolls Royce engines making CYH the only airline other than British Airways to do so. China Yunnan operated within China with some international flights to Thailand, Singapore and other southeast Asia countries.
In 2003 China Eastern absorbed China Northwest and China Yunnan airlines as a part of consolidation in Chinese airline industry. China Eastern operated some of CYH planes with the CYH logo on top of its livery as China Eastern Yunnan Airlines subsidiary..
