GAA HQ Business Express Bizex USA United States
4A Atlantic Air

note

Business Express was created with the acquisition of Atlantic Air by Marketing Corporation of America in November 1984. Atlantic Air has operated Piper Navajos in commuter operations from Bridgeport, Connecticut. The airline quickly expanded services with Beech 99s, Beech 1900s, Shorts 360s and SAAB 340s. It acquired Pilgrim Airlines in 1986 and became a Delta Connection carrier during the same year. It also acquired Mall Airways in 1989. Bizex also added Northwest as a code-share partner in 1994. Eroded finances caused SAAB to place the airline into involumtary bankruptcy in 1996. As part of its recovery, all aircraft types were retired except for its SAAB 340s. Additionally, a new code-sharing agreement with American Airlines was added. AMR acquired the airline in 1999, and began operating flights as American Connection. Its other code-sharing partnerships were abandoned. By the end of 2000 operations were absorded into the American Eagle certificate.
