First independent private airline to compete directly with state owned Olympic Airways was founded in 1992 by Konstantinos Piladakis and Anastasios Pantazopoulos. Airline operated charter flights. In March 1993 SEEA became first airline to operate under Virgin Atlantic brand to continental Europe to prove feasibility of the concept as Virgin sought to expand into European market. Daily London - Athens route was operated using Boeing 737-400 leased from AirUK Leisure. Airline also served regional network and connected Athens with Heraklion, Rhodes, Chania, Corfu and Thessaloniki.
