Formed by Carl and Adrian Florman as Aktiebolaget Aerotransport, airline commenced operations in June 1924 between Stockholm and Helsinki using Junekrs F-13 aircraft. In 1937 first Douglas DC-3 joined the fleet enabling expansion of network to more distant destinations. ABA became the second European operator of the Douglas DC-3 after KLM. In June 1948 airline merged with privately owned long-haul swedish airline SILA which was since 1946 part of SAS consortium. Since October 1 1950, ABA, SILA, Norways NDL and Danish DDL became only holding companies and all airline operations were transfered to SAS. ABA re-started operations as airline again in 1996 when SAS Sverige brand was introduced as part of SAS Group.
