MNG Airlines is first private all cargo airline based in Turkey. It is part of MNG Group, an industrial conglomerate founded by Günal Construction Trading and Industry Company and MAPA Construction and Trading Company in 1992. Mehmet Nazif Günal, founder of Gunal Construction is its CEO as of 2011. The Group today include businesses in such diverse industries as energy generation, hotel management, aircraft maintenance, finance and entertainment. MNG Airlines started operations in November 1997 on Istanbul - Hahn (Germany) cargo route using Airbus A300 Freighter. MNG Cargo provides feeder service for FedEx in Turkey and Cyprus. It operates primarily throughout Europe and Middle East with occasional trans Atlantic charters. Between 2002 and 2006 MNG Airlines operated passenger charter division called MNG pax. Company plans to increase A300 fleet to 10, obtain further 3 Antonov An-24 and 3 DC-9. In January 2007 MNG Cargo has become launch customer of Airbus A330 Freighter.
