Aircraft manufacturer founded by the government of Canada. Company was set up by absorbing Vickers Canada Ltd a subsidiary of Vickers Aircraft Co. Ltd of United Kingdom. Company was nationalized in 1976. The development costs of its regional jet airliner CRJ brought company to its knees and the government of Canada decided to sell it to Bombardier Group to establish its aerospace division.
