Scheduled passenger low cost airline modeled after Southwest Airlines. Company started as a charter operator serving Utah's largest travel agent Morris Travel. Morris Travel was founded by June Morris and initially operated out of her husband's photo finishing shop. Scheduled operations commenced in summer 1992. Until its acquisition, company was managed by June Moris and David Neeleman who later helped to form and managed other succesfull low cost operators Westjet, JetBlue and Azul in Brasil. Airline was acquired by Southwest Air Lines in December 1993 after June Morris, who was 62 at the time, approach Southwest about the buyout. Southwest acquired the airline in December 1993 through stock swap worth $129 million. At the time Morris was profitable earning almost $20 million on $200 million revenue serving 20 cities in the West from its hub in Salt Lake City. Their route structure did not overlap with Southwest and they used same aircraft as Southwest.
