note
Air Canada began code sharing with regional airlines in 1987. The first airlines were branded Liaison Air Canada Connector. Rebranded as Air Canada Regional in 1994 as part of Air Canada brand updates, including new liveries. In 2000 Air Canada created Air Canada Regional Inc. in order to consolidate its owned regional carriers. Air Canada Regional was both a brand name and the corporate name for the airline, which used the Air Nova certificate. The new name entered use on January 1, 2001, however the airlines operated under their separate authorities until early 2002. In April of that year, Air Canada adopted Air Canada Jazz as the brand name for these airlines. Air Canada began to code share with non-owned carriers, which were branded Air Canada Alliance. In April 2011, it abandoned the Air Canada Jazz and Alliance brands and began using Air Canada Express.
