Charter airline formed as sister company of Trans European Airlines of Belgium founded in 1977 by George Gutelman. TEA Belgium also established subsidiary in UK and Switzerland. TEA Belgium seized operations following bankruptcy in September 1991 due to slump in leisure travel after the first Gulf War. TEA France attempted to survive by alligning itself with another french charter airline EAS Europe Airlines and for a while in 1995 brand TEA Europe Airlines was used. At this time TEA flew charters out of Lille and Lourdes to resorts along the Mediterranean.
