Private charter and ACMI leases airline acquired in July 2011 by Loganair. Airline was founded in 1984 by Roy and Merlyn Suckling and started scheduled passenger operations as Suckling Airways in April 1986. At the time, a single Dornier Do 228 was used on network linking Ipswich with Amsterdam and Manchester. In 1999 Scottish businessman Brian Souter purchased majority stake in the company and changed brand name to ScotAirways, although Sucklings remained in charge of daily operations. Company also operated scheduled passenger flights for CityJet and other full service airlines in Europe. On the 8th July 2011, Loganair acquired ScotAirways. It has been agreed that Suckling will continue to operate under its certificates and brand Suckling Airways as wholly owned subsidiary of Loganair. ScotAirways brand has been terminated. Sucklings AOC was revoked on 31/01/13 and all ops transferred onto Flybe AOC.
