CPL FC Chaparral Airlines Chaparral USA United States

note

Chaparral began flying on September 15, 1976 between Abilene and Austin using a Piper Navajo. By the early 1980s it had expanded its route system to several points in central Texas and Louisiana. Its fleet consisted of Beech 99s, CASA 212, and a Gulfstream G-IC. On December 1, 1984 it became an American Eagle carrier at Dallas/Ft. Worth. The airline was acquired by Metro Airlines in 1987, and on October 1, assumed the routes and Jetstreams that were operated by Metro Express II. In September 1990, Chaparral merged into Metroflight, creating a single American Eagle carrier at DFW.
