Founded by Charles J Colgan, owner of an FBO at Manassas, Virginia airport since 1965. On September 19, 1970, Colgan began operations on a Manassas-Washington (Dulles)-Poughkeepsie run. The airline expanded to 7 Beech 99s, serving New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia. The airline became a New York Air Connection carrier in 1985. On August 6, 1986, it was sold to Presidential Airways, who maintained the code-share with New York Air and, later, Continental. On June 29, 1987, the airline was renamed Presidential Express. In June 1988, the airline merged with sister Presidential Airways, and its operating authority was canceled.
