Formed by Yugoslav government as charter and leisure service airline. Airline commenced operations in March 1962 with former KLM's DC-6s. In 1968 airline changed its name to Inex Adria because its alliance with Interexport trade group. First jet a DC-9 was delivered in April 1969. Although founded as a charter airline, Inex Adria began scheduled domestic service and flights to Larnaca. Airline dropped Inex from its title in 1986 and became Adria Airways.
