Airline was founded in 1935 as air taxi and charter Cambrian Air Service in Cardiff. In 1956 Cambrian Airways name was adopted.
Airline started scheduled passenger service after the World War II. Cambrian operated flights to Jersey, Isle of Man, London and Manchester, Liverpool and Northern Ireland from its bases at Cardiff and Bristol. Flights to Paris via Bournemouth and Cork was served from London. Cambrian code shared with BEA on flight to Scotland via Manchester. Airline also conducted charter flights to West Germany and the Mediterranean. Airline was controled by BEA (British European Airways) since 1967, but the Cambrian Airways brand was preserved. In 1970 Cambrian became part of British Air Services group. In April 1976 Cambrian ceased to exists, being completely incorporated into British Airways.
