note

Eva Air was founded by Dr. Chang Yung-Fa as scheduled passenger and dedicated cargo airline. Eva Air is an enterprise of shipping conglomerate Evergreen Group, parent of Evergreen Marine Corp. a shipping giant from which it inherits its livery and name. Operations commenced in July 1991. Since then Eva Air has grown from an alternative to China Airlines to major global airline player and innovator in cabin service as well as flight engineering and maintenance. In 1996, EVA Air acquired Makung Airlines, which it merged with Great China Airlines and Taiwan Airways to form UNI Airways. In 1999 EVA Air floated its stock on Taiwan stock exchange. Airline received its first Airbus A330 in 2003 and first Boeing 777 in 2005. Both types along with venerable 747-400s and MD-11s in its Cargo fleet form backbone of its fleet. EVA Air has also developed its Cargo business which accounts to half of its revenue. EVA serves destinations in Europe, Australia, North America as well as dense regional network in East Asia. EVA Air also acquired domestic and regional airline UNI Airways.
