note
Independent domestic scheduled passenger and cargo carrier that was created when deregulation allowed TDA Toa Domestic to compete directly with JAL and All Nippon on domestic routes and international destinations. TDA was rebranded into JAS. JAS operated mostly domestic flights, with some international Asian flights. Some international flights were also operated by Harlequin Air, a subsidiary of JAS, while some domestic commuter flights were operated by both Hokkaido Air System and JAC Japan Air Commuter, also both subsidiaries of JAS. In 2001, JAS and its subsidiaries were bought by Japan Airlines and JAS was rebranded into Japan Airlines Domestic in 2004. Japan Airlines Domestic was fully integrated into Japan Airlines in 2006 along with its subsidiary Harlequin Air.
