Siamese Airways Company

note

Thailand's domestic airline created by the government as Siamese Airways. In November 1951, name changed to Thai Airways Company when the government merged it with Pacific Overseas Airways Siam POAS. POAS operated DC-4 service stretching from Japan to India at the time, giving Thai Airways international routes. In 1960 TAC, together with SAS, created Thai Airways International to separate the international and domestic business. From then on, Thai Airways operated only domestic service with the exception of also serving Penang resort in Malaysia and Thai International focused on all international service. This arrangement continued until April 1988 when both companies merged using Thai International AOC.
