Company was founded as a scenic tour operator taking tourists to the Grand Canyon. It has financial backing of Goldwater family who owned department store chain and from which presidential candidate Barry Goldwater came. Company was struggling and in April 1950 merged with Summit (Challenger) Airways and Monarch Air Lines of Denver to form the Frontier Air Lines.
