National Jet Express was established in 1994 as a subsidiary of National Jet Systems to provide scheduled and charter services under the National Jet branding. It also operated freighter services for Australian air Express. In 1999 the airline was sold to Cobham plc and was renamed Cobham Aviation Services Australia in 2009. It currently operates cargo services for QantasFreight and single entity charters for the mining industry. In January 2020 the company was sold to Advent International, which sold the National Jet Systems operation to Qantas. On September 30, 2022, Cobham sold National Jet Express to REX, which is rebranding the operation back to National Jet Express.
