By 2010 REX was serving around 100,000 passengers monthly on a network that includes two dozen destinations throughout NSW, South Australia, Victoria and Tasmania from hubs at Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney. It has also set up network serving 6 destinations in central Queensland from a hub at Townsville. In 2010 REX was awarded ATW's Regional Airline of the Year award - feat also achieved by its predecessor Kendell in 1992. Regional Express began in 2002 in the aftermath of Ansett’s collapse. Former Ansett subsidiaries Hazelton and Kendall were bought and merged to create Regional Express. Regional Express was later rebranded as Rex
