note
Lynx was formed on September 6, 2006 as a subsidiary of Frontier Airlines Holdings, with plans to operate lower cost turboprops on routes of less than 650 miles. The airline was supposed to begin flying in September 2007, but FAA certification delays pushed its start-up back to December 7, 2007. The airline went into bankruptcy, along with Frontier, on April 11, 2008. Frontier Airlines Holdings was purchased by Republic Airlines Holdings in August 2009. In early 2010, it was announced that Lynx would be closed, and services would be taken over by Republic regional jets. During the summer of that year, it was decided that four Q400s would continue to operate between Denver and three cities through the winter. In May 2011, Republic elected to take on the four Q400s, for operation in the United Express system. The last Lynx airplane was transferred to Republic in October 2011.
