A subsidiary of Malaysia-based carrier, AirAsia, as a joint venture with Tata Sons and Telestra Tradeplace. The airline received its Indian AOC on May 30, 2014, and operations began on June 12. In October 2021, Tata Sons acquired Air India's parent, and later announced plans to merge Air Asia India into Air India. In November 2022 Tata acquired all outstanding shares from Air Asia. The following month, the airline name was changed to AIX Connect. In September 2023, AIX Connect began codesharing with Air India, as Air India Express. In November, it began transferring its aircraft onto the Air India Express certificate. Merger completed by October 1, 2024.
