note
Ozark Air Lines began operations September 26, 1950 when it acquired Parks Air Lines in order to secure operating certificates from the Civil Aeronautics Board. Ozark used Douglas DC-3's which it acquired from Parks Air Lines to start air service within Missouri and on to Chicago from its home base at Saint Louis Lambert field. The DC-3 fleet was augmented with larger Convair 240s and Fairchild F-27s. The F-27 was the first turboprop for Ozark of which first example joined fleet in August 1958. The Convairs were traded to Mohawk for Martin 404s while the F-27s were traded to Fairchild for larger FH-227s. Its first jet, a Douglas DC-9 was delivered in 1966. In March 1986 TWA, Ozark's St. Louis rival, made an offer to purchase Ozark. Offer was accepted and Ozark Air Lines was integrated into TWA by October. At the time of merger, Ozark operated fleet of 50 DC-9s on network stretching from Denver to New York, Texas and Florida. San Diego and Las Vegas were served in the West.
