SYM MQ Simmons Airlines Simmons USA United States

note

Simmons began operations in 1978 between Marquette and Lansing using a Piper Navajo. Operations expanded in the 1980s to link multiple points in Michigan to Chicago and Detroit using Embraer 110s, Shorts SD360s and NAMC YS-11s. Simmons began operating as a Republic Express carrier on April 28, 1985 (later Northwest Airlink) serving markets from Detroit, and as an American Eagle carrier on October 1, 1985 serving markets from Chicago. Simmons was acquired by AMR on August 1, 1987 and ended Northwest Airlink fights soon after. On May 28, 1993, it acquired certain assets of bankrupt Metroflight, which operated American Eagle flights from DFW. On April 30, 1998, Simmons was merged into newly created AMR subsidiary, American Eagle Airlines.
