Ontario Express was established in 1987 by Pacific Western Airlines parent, which held a 49.5% stake; operations began July 15 using a fleet of Jetstream 31s. In 2001 it became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Canadian Regional Airlines, itself a subsidiary of Canadian Airlines. Ontario Express was rebranded as Canadian Regional in April 1993, but continued to operate as a separate airline until July 1998, when it merged into Time Air.
