MSA MSA Malaysia-Singapore Airlines Singapore
Malaysian Airways Malaysia

note

Airline was formed in 1963 when Borneo Airways and Malayan Airways were merged to form Malaysian Airways. In 1965 Singapore was expelled from Malaysia forming its own republic. This prompted company to change its name in November 1967 to Malaysia-Singapore Airlines or MSA. Political and strategic bickering within the airline which was now serving two nations - Singapore Republic and Malaysia lead to break up of the airline in 1972 after Singapore formed its own airline, Singapore Airlines, in April 1971. Malaysia responed by forming MAS Malaysian Airline System as a replacement of MSA. MSA during its peak served domestic network as well as international long-haul flights to Europe, East Asia and Australia using fleet of Fokker F-27s, Boeing 737s and 707s.
