Over the years, SIA built reputation, brand ( its famous sarong kebaya uniform on female flight attendants is used since 1968!) and financial health that is unparalleled in the industry. It allows SIA to avoid price wars and constantly renew its fleet with the latest model airplanes without having to lease them. SIA serves Australia, Middle East, Africa, Europe and North America. SIA employs just under 14,000 people and in 2008 carried almost 20 million passengers. Singapore Airlines is part of Singapore Airlines Group which includes other enterprises.
